Council Catch-Up
October 6, 2026
  • The Village will be connecting with Agassiz Elementary Secondary School to identify a student who would be interested in attending the BC Youth Parliament's 98th Parliamentary Session from December 27-31, 2026 in Victoria, with an offer to provide financial support for the $600 registration fee.

  • Council will send letters of support for the Agassiz Harrison Historical Society's grant applications to the Museums Assistance Program and the Kent-Harrison Foundation.

  • Harrison Hot Springs received 5 blooms in the provincial Communities in Bloom evaluation. This is the highest number of blooms possible. Evaluations are based on several criteria including community appearance, environmental action, heritage conservation, tree management, landscape, and plant and floral displays. The Communities in Bloom Committee would like to thank everyone who participated in CIB initiatives to help make this year a success!

  • At the recommendation of the Environmental Advisory Committee, the Village will seek future partnerships, such as with graduate students, for environmental assessments, data gathering, reports and studies within the Village, and consider including such a project in the 2026-2030 Strategic Plan.
  • Flag Policy Updates: Council approved amendments to Flag Policy 1.36 and requested a report back on policy recommendations for flying special flags and changing the colours of the exterior lighting at Village facilities.
  • Release of Closed Meeting Resolution: Many subjects requiring the confidentiality of a closed meeting only require it for a limited period of time. The follow released resolution was received for information:
