Council Meeting Highlights - September 8, 2025

Council Catch Up
September 9, 2025
  • A Public Hearing was held regarding Zoning Amendment Bylaw No. 1228, 2025, which proposes to change the current zoning of the property located at 856 Hot Springs Road from R-2 (Duplex) to C-2 (Neighbourhood Commercial).

  • We have an update on the waterfront dike project! After a presentation from the consultant, Council voted to pursue a detailed design for a deployable system in Zones 3-6 (from the pump station to Rendall Park). More information will be brought forward to a future Committee of the Whole meeting – check out our Get Into It Harrison page for project information.

  • As recommended by the Environmental Advisory Committee, staff will be reviewing the current Official Community Plan from an environmental perspective to determine how policies regarding water and energy conservation, protection of the Miami River, waste reduction and tree canopy improvement and renewal may be strengthened. Staff will also be researching an Adopt a Trail or Shoreline program to address littering along the lagoon pathway.

  • Council authorized the Harrison Yacht Club to seek a building permit for a covered patio structure.

  • Another exciting project update – detailed design of the Lillooet West Streetscape Enhancements will be coming soon. Check out the preliminary concept here.

  • The Village will be engaging a consultant to prepare a formalized public notification and evacuation route plan. In the meantime, we have an Emergency Preparedness Resource Guide full of emergency response information for residents.

  • A Request for Proposals (RFP) will be issued for a carved pole to be raised and installed at the beachfront plaza, in consultation with Sts’ailes.

  • A temporary off-leash dog park will be installed at Spring Park from mid-September until December 2025. This trial period will provide an opportunity for community feedback. Stay tuned for more information.

New Business:

  • Staff will be reviewing and reporting back on the legal framework for the operation of single occupancy motorized modes of transportation within the Village, as well as Bylaw options for regulating their use on streets, sidewalks and public pathways.
