Council Catch-Up: January 13, 2025 Regular Council Meeting

  • Council heard delegations from BC Timber Sales regarding their mandate and forestry stewardship, and a member of the public regarding Advisory Planning Commission bylaws.
  • Council reviewed the 2024 Fire Department Annual Report, which highlighted increases in both Fire Department membership and calls for service compared to 2023.
  • Boat Launch operations are changing this year. The Village will be posting a Request for Proposals on BC Bid looking for qualified contractors to operate the Boat Launch for the 2025 season.
  • An amendment to the Indemnification Bylaw that clarifies parameters surrounding indemnifying Municipal Officials was given third reading after the language in the bylaw was clarified by legal counsel.
  • Housekeeping: a bylaw to repeal Littering, Dumping and Snow Bylaw No. 870, 2007 was given first three readings. The provisions of this bylaw are now addressed in various other bylaws.
  • An updated Noise Bylaw that seeks to clarify noise regulations and repeal an outdated bylaw was given first three readings as amended.
