Construction work will begin Tuesday, September 24, 2024 at the beachfront park east of the plaza on Esplanade Avenue. Contractors will be on site removing the 5-12 year-old Beach Pirateship playground which is going to be replaced with new, inclusive playground equipment and rubber surfacing. Swings and a shade structure over the existing tot park will also be installed. This project is expected to be completed in November of 2024. Several parking stalls on Esplanade Avenue will be blocked off during this time to facilitate construction. Additionally, the paved pathway may see daytime closures. Detours will be available either north of the playground around the beach washrooms or south along Esplanade Avenue. Please refer to the map below:
