PUBLIC NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN AS FOLLOWS: An election by voting is to be held to elect one (1) Mayor and four (4) Councillors, and the following persons are candidates for each office:

VOTING DAYS AND LOCATIONS

ADVANCE VOTING DAY will be held on:
Wednesday, October 7, 2026, between 8:00 a.m. and 8:00 p.m. at
Memorial Hall, 290 Esplanade Avenue, Harrison Hot Springs, BC

GENERAL VOTING DAY will be held on:
Saturday, October 17, 2026, between 8:00 a.m. and 8:00 p.m. at
Memorial Hall, 290 Esplanade Avenue, Harrison Hot Springs, BC
 

ELECTOR REGISTRATION

There is no need to pre-register to vote as registration takes place at the time of voting. You will be required to make a declaration that you meet the following requirements:

• 18 years of age or older on general voting day – October 17, 2026;

• A Canadian citizen;

• A resident of British Columbia for at least 6 months immediately before the day of registration;

• A resident on the day of registration OR a registered owner of real property in Harrison Hot Springs for at least 30 days immediately before the day of registration; and

• Not disqualified under the Local Government Act or any other enactment from voting in an election or otherwise disqualified by law.

Resident electors who live in Harrison Hot Springs must produce two (2) pieces of identification to prove residency and identity. 

Non-resident property electors who own real property in Harrison Hot Springs but live elsewhere in BC must produce two (2) pieces of identification (at least one with a signature) to prove residency and identity, proof that they are entitled to register in relation to the property (e.g. Property Tax Notice, Land Title Registration or BC Assessment Notice), and, if there is more than one owner of the property, written consent from a majority of the registered owners stating that the elector is an owner of the property and is designated as the non-resident property elector for that property.

• The only persons who are registered owners of the property, either as joint tenants or tenants in common, are individuals who are not holding the property in trust for a corporation or another trust.

• If more than one person is a registered owner of the property, only one of those individuals may, with the written consent of the majority of the owners, register as a non-resident property elector.

ACCEPTABLE IDENTIFICATION

(a) British Columbia Driver's Licence,
(b) a BC identification card within the meaning of the Identification Card Regulation,
(b.1) a photo BC services card within the meaning of the Identification Card Regulation,
(b.2) a non-photo BC services card within the meaning of the Identification Card Regulation,
(b.3) a document, issued by the government of Canada, that certifies that the applicant is registered as an Indian under the Indian Act (Canada),
(b.4) a citizenship or membership  card issued by a first nation,
(b.5) a citizenship card issued by Métis Nation British Columbia,
(c) an Owner's Certificate of Insurance and Vehicle Licence issued by the Insurance Corporation of British Columbia,
(d) a British Columbia CareCard or British Columbia Gold CareCard,
(e) a Ministry of Social Development and Economic Security Request for Continued Assistance Form SDES8,
(f) a Social Insurance Number card or confirmation of Social Insurance Number letter issued by the government of Canada,
(g) a Citizenship Card issued by Citizenship and Immigration Canada,
(h) a real property tax notice issued under section 237 of the Community Charter or section 21 of the Taxation (Rural Area) Act,
(i) a credit card or debit card issued by a savings institution as defined in section 29 of the Interpretation Act, or
(j) a utility bill issued for the supply of electricity, natural gas, water, telephone services or coaxial cable services 

At least one (1) piece of identification must contain a signature. Picture identification is not necessary. Combined BC Driver's Licence and BC Services Cards only count as one (1) piece of identification. 

MAIL BALLOT VOTING

To vote by mail and obtain a mail ballot, you must submit an application form with the information as listed below by 4:00 p.m. on Friday, October 9, 2026:

• Full name

• Residential address or address of property in relation to which the elector is voting

• Declaration of eligibility to vote as either a resident elector or non-resident property elector

• Two pieces of acceptable identification and, in the case of a non-resident property elector, proof of entitlement to register in relation to the property and written consent from a majority of other owners

• Requested method of delivery of mail ballot package

Application forms are available at the Village Office, 495 Hot Springs Road, Harrison Hot Springs, BC or online at www.harrisonhotsprings.ca/elections. Mail ballot packages will not be sent out until the week of September 28, 2026. Mail ballots may be returned to the Village of Harrison Hot Springs, PO Box 160, 495 Hot Springs Road, Harrison Hot Springs, BC, V0M 1K0 in person during regular office hours, Monday-Friday from 8:30 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. and 1:00 p.m. – 4:30 p.m. excluding statutory holidays, or by mail or courier. To be counted, mail ballots must be received by the Chief Election Officer by 8:00 p.m. on General Voting Day, Saturday, October 17, 2026.

On General Voting Day, mail ballots must be received by the Chief Election Officer in person at Memorial Hall, 290 Esplanade Avenue, Harrison Hot Springs, BC only.
