Council Catch Up
August 12, 2025
  • Council heard from two delegations:

    • Supt. Pankratz, Upper Fraser Valley Regional Detachment, shared introductions for the new S/Sgt. Darryl Peppler of the Agassiz RCMP Detachment and thanked S/Sgt. Mike Sargent for his service.

    • The WildSafe BC Fraser Valley Coordinator shared a presentation on WildSafe and Bear Smart activities in the Village. Village staff will be investigating a recommendation to form a Bear Smart Stewardship Committee.

  • Council voted to provide its consent for the Fraser Valley Regional District Sub-Regional Animal Control Service Area Amendment Bylaw No. 1797, 2025.

  • Staff will be applying to the Strategic Priorities Fund for up to $2,000,000 under the Brownfield Redevelopment category to remediate the soils on the current Public Works site, which could support housing and formalize an adjacent neighbourhood park space that would connect to existing trails in the community.

  • The Official Community Plan Amendment Bylaw No. 1129, 2025, received first and second reading. The bylaw will be referred to several community partners for comment. An open house has been scheduled for Wednesday, September 3 at Memorial Hall -  keep an eye out for more information.

  • Staff will be investigating EV charging rates that encourage the use of EVs and are economical for the Village to operate on a cost recovery basis.

  • Two Notices of Motion were presented, which will be brought forth at the next Regular Council Meeting:

    • Regular Council Meeting Location:
THAT Regular Council Meetings be moved from Memorial Hall to Council Chambers at the Village Office.
