  • The Village will send a letter of appreciation to the responding Fire Departments for their service and response to the fire incident on June 23, 2026. 

  • The Village will send a letter of support to the Agassiz-Harrison Museum to accompany their application to the Federal Government’s New Horizons for Seniors grant program. 

  • Council will send a letter of support to the District of Oak Bay to support their advocacy to the Provincial Government to continue funding of the Local Government Climate Action Program (LGCAP). 

  • The Village will send a letter of support to Electoral Area A Director Diane Johnson regarding the wildfire activity in their region, expressing solidarity with affected communities and appreciation for the ongoing efforts of emergency responders and local agencies. 

  • The Village will engage with Fraser Health to explore opportunities to improve access and connectivity for potential clients of the Village Health Centre, including reducing barriers for residents who are not currently attached to the Agassiz Community Health Centre. 

  • The Chief Administrative Officer’s 2026 Second Quarter Update was received for information. This quarterly report highlights the Village’s operational achievements from April 2026 through June 2026. View the report on page 35 of the agenda package

  • A policy to establish guidelines for the secure and efficient use of generative artificial intelligence (AI) and technology resources within the Village was approved. 

  • A civic recognition and commemorative naming policy was approved, which provides guidelines for individuals to receive formal recognition from Council for outstanding service and contribution to the Village. This policy will be brought forward to the incoming Council after the 2026 General Local Election as part of the review of all Committees. 

  • The Village will be acquiring Diligent Community governance platform to support the management of agendas, minutes, notices, and reports, and to improve the public’s accessibility of these documents.  

  • An update on the Council remuneration review was received for information. Staff will be drafting updates to the technology device provisions for Council’s future consideration. 

  • Council approved the expenditure of up to $45,000 in capital equipment for the Fire Department, to be funded by the approved Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation grant. 

  • An updated community bulletin board policy was approved with amendments as presented, which establishes guidelines for the use of the Village’s Community Bulletin Boards. A new community bulletin board will be coming soon to Lillooet Avenue West – stay tuned! 

  • The IDEA Framework and Action Plan Implementation Update was received for information. This report outlines highlights and actions in progress or completed within the first 90 days of the IDEA Framework and Action Plan being adopted. 

  • A bylaw to regulate the use of pesticides for cosmetic purposes was given first and second reading. The Village will be conducting public education and engagement regarding the draft bylaw and will report back to Council with the results prior to consideration of third reading and adoption. 

  • Zoning Amendment Bylaw No. 1244, 2026, relating to the parcel located at 889 Hot Springs Road, was adopted subject to accepted Landscaping and Works and Services Agreements.  

  • The following Notice of Motion regarding the proposed Civic Campus project will be up for consideration and discussion at a future Regular Council Meeting. The public is welcomed to submit comments as they relate to the Notice of Motion and to form part of the public record by emailing [email protected]:  

    Civic Campus Memorandum of Understanding 
    THAT staff be directed to engage staff from School District No. 78 (Fraser-Cascade) and jointly prepare a new Memorandum of Understanding (MOU), for Council and the School Board’s consideration, regarding a Civic Campus proposal that: 

    - Clearly outlines the purpose of the MOU as an exploratory, without prejudice document, the intent of which is to formally discuss a potential land exchange of land between the School Board and the Village;  

    - Incorporates clear language stating the Village’s requirement to preserve the values and features of the forested areas and mature trees to the greatest extent possible;  

    - Incorporates a provision that both parties will explore options to enhance the use of forested areas;  

    - Confirms that any exchange of land contained in Fire Hall Park will require the approval of the electors either through an Alternative Approval Process or Assent Voting; and  

    - Allows for consideration of other possible configurations of the school and other buildings on the land being considered in this process.

  • Join us at the next Community Connections Café at the Village Health Centre this Friday, July 17, with a theme of arts and creativity! Help us beautify the Village’s gardens by taking part in a painting activity from 9AM – 1PM at the Village Health Centre. 

  • The Communities in Bloom Committee invites you to take part in the annual self-guided Garden Tour on Saturday, July 25, from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM. This popular community event celebrates the beauty and creativity of local gardens while inspiring others to get involved in gardening and beautification efforts. If you have a garden you'd like to showcase as a tour stop, we encourage you to sign up and share your space with the community.   • Have you ever considered serving your community? Individuals interested in running for municipal office in the 2026 General Local Election are invited to attend a Candidate Information Session on Thursday, August 6, at 6:00PM at the Village Office (495 Hot Springs Road). This session will provide an overview of the roles and responsibilities of Mayor and Council, explain the local election process, review key timelines and nomination requirements, and highlight resources for prospective candidates. Whether you're ready to run or simply exploring the opportunity, this session is a great place to learn more about being an elected official.
