Staying Informed During Changing Weather Conditions
Weather conditions in Harrison Hot Springs can change quickly, especially during periods of heavy rainfall, wind, or storms. With already saturated ground, there is an increased chance that trees or branches could come down, particularly during windy periods.
Residents are encouraged to:
-
Stay aware of their surroundings
-
Secure loose outdoor items
-
Use caution when travelling or walking near treed areas
If you see a downed tree impacting power lines, dial 911 immediately and do not approach.

Stormwater and the Sanitary Sewer System
During periods of heavy or prolonged rainfall, stormwater can enter the Village’s sanitary sewer system, which is designed for wastewater only - not rainwater. Excess stormwater can place added strain on the system.
If you are currently pumping water into the sanitary sewer, or think your property may be contributing, please contact the Village at 604-796-2171. Our Utilities team can help identify safe and effective ways to manage stormwater.
How residents can help during heavy rainfall:
-
Limit non-essential water use such as laundry, dishwashing, and long showers
-
Ensure sump pumps, drains, and downspouts are directing water to appropriate stormwater areas - not sanitary connections
